23 billion tenge will be invested in Imantau-Shalkar resort area

A meeting of the regional akimat took place. On the agenda, there was the issue of tourism development in North Kazakhstan region. Particular attention was paid to Imantau-Shalkar resort area. In the framework of the state program for the development of the tourist industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan, it entered the TOP-10 priority tourist territories. About 23 billion tenge is planned to be allocated for the development of the resort area. The plan provides for the implementation of 56 activities in the main 10 directions. Among them, there is the construction of engineering infrastructure, roads and access roads. It is worth noting that over the past 3 years, 273 km of roads have already been repaired in this resort area. That allowed increasing the flow of tourists by 40%.

«Last year, 45 thousand people had visited Imantau-Shalkar resort area. This year, 63 thousand people visited it for just 8 months. This is the result of comprehensive work to improve infrastructure. The amount of funding for road repair is increasing annually. If in 2017, 900 million tenge was allocated, then it is already 3.8 billion tenge in 2019», — the akim of NKR Kumar Aksakalov said.

Within the framework of the State Program for the Development of the Tourism Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan, it is planned to build new modern recreation centers with year-round tourists leisure. This year, 5 projects are being implemented in the resort area of Imantau-Shalkar. The recreation center «Izumrudnoye» has been opened, a number of objects worth over 1 billion tenge will be launched before the end of the year.

«The restoration work of Shalkar-su is slow. It should have been completed before the end of this year. It was agreed with the investor that he is repairing the building. We, in turn, will conduct a road and we will ensure the loading of this sanatorium through the union vouchers throughout the year. The investor needs to accelerate. Upon completion of the repair work, local residents will be able to receive spa treatment year-round without leaving the region», — Kumar Aksakalov said.

The action plan also envisages the construction of the Botai Museum-Reserve, a visit center for tourists, landscaping of the resort area, namely, the construction of an embankment on the shore of Lake Imantau, the improvement of horse and bicycle trails and a viewing platform.
